Face 1 is the first work in artist Sathya N Prabhu’s Face series — an ongoing exploration of the human face as the most complex and revealing subject in portraiture. At 12x12 inches, the format is deliberately intimate: no room for background, no room for context, no room for anything except the face itself and what it carries. Rendered with the expressive figurative skill and quiet psychological attentiveness that defines Sathya N Prabhu’s portraiture, Face 1 is both a beginning and a complete statement — the work that asked the question the whole series has been answering ever since.
